More than £1,000 was raised for the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation (DCF) through Falcons Family Day ticket sales.
£1 from every Family Day ticket sold was donated to the DCF by the Club, with funds raised supporting the DCF’s excellent work within the community, making the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Derbyshire Falcons Men players also warmed up in special kits bearing the DCF logo. These shirts will be auctioned off to raise further funds.
Family Day saw the DCF spread the word of their programmes, which cater to all ages, to more than 1,900 people, many of which attended as a family. Her Game Too were also in attendance to celebrate the growth of the women & girls game across Derbyshire and showcase how to get into the sport.
Supporters young and old were able to enjoy live music in the Falcons FanZone, circus skills, balloon modelling and inflatable activities, such as football darts and a giant slide.
The day also celebrated the T20 career of Wayne Madsen, who called time on his Vitality T20 Blast career after 17 seasons.
Derbyshire Cricket Foundation’s Community Development Manager, Mark Barber said, “Derbyshire CCC’s support shown on Family Day for the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation is greatly appreciated and the funds raised will go towards our Falcon’s Leadership Academy which will provide over 120 young people with a Sports Leaders qualification this year, develop employability Skills and confidence and will run in Derby, The High Peak and Chesterfield.
“We will be auctioning the signed warm-up shirts worn on the day which will help boost the funds raised for this scheme. This helps us work towards our aim to Empower Communities and Improve Lives through Cricket.”
