Martin Andersson claimed the Derbyshire Men’s Player of the Year Award and Lauren Kenvyn won the Falcons Women’s Players’ Player of the Year trophy at the Club’s annual Gala Dinner, sponsored by Conference Works.
Both all-rounders have each enjoyed strong seasons with bat and ball, with Andersson having scored more than 1,700 runs and claimed more than 40 wickets, while Kenvyn was a consistent performer for the Falcons Women all campaign, which was capped off with a stunning century in the mammoth chase to defeat Sussex Sharks in August.
Andersson was also named Metro Bank One-Day Cup Player of the Year. Ben Aitchison was the most decorated player on the night, taking home the County Championship Player of the Year, Members Player of the Year and Eddie Barlow Inspirational Performance awards.
Frances Lonsdale earned the Falcons Women Batter of the Year, with Rhiannon Knowling-Davies retaining her crown as Bowler of the Year. Kenvyn was also named as Falcons Women Coaches Player of the Year.
Recently retired former captain, Tash Allen, became the first Falcons Women player to be awarded her county cap.
Derbyshire Falcons captain, and now England international, Nye Donald was named the Vitality Blast Player of the Year, with the big-hitting batter making rthe journey back from Manchester to make a surprise appearance on the night, having represented England ealier in the day.
Theo Brown was named Academy Player of the Year, while Luis Reece was awarded the Spirit of Cricket award for his stellar century against Worcestershire, just days after learning of his son’s heart condition.
