Bin Naeem signs two-year extension

Derbyshire Pathway graduate, Yousaf Bin Naeem, has signed a new two-year contract.

The 20-year-old has featured in all formats for Derbyshire this summer, marking his first-class debut with a half-century against Gloucestershire earlier this month.

The youngster’s deal was due to expire at the end of the current season but has been rewarded for his continued development and will remain with Derbyshire until the end of the 2028 campaign.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Yousaf has shown real drive and determination to keep improving and I’m pleased he will continue his development with us for the next two seasons.

“He’s impressed everyone with his work rate, he’s always trying to improve and he’s establishing himself as a first team player now, someone who we can rely on.

“We’ve tested him this summer, with different roles across the formats and he’s adapted well. Now the winter will be focussed on fine tuning his game, because he has the tools to be a key player for us.”

Bin Naeem added: “I’m proud of the progress I’ve made this summer, playing in all formats is massive for me and I’m learning all the time. The squad and coaches are brilliant to learn from and they’ve helped me a lot.

“To represent my county is a dream come true and I’m excited to see what we can achieve over the next two years.”
