Derbyshire Falcons Men captain, Nye Donald, has been called-up to the England Lions squad for the two-match T20 series against Sri Lanka this week.
Fresh from the news of his maiden senior England call-up for the upcoming IT20 series against Sri Lanka, Donald is one of seven players from that squad to be named in the Lions squad, as he aims to stake his claim of a place in the XI.
Donald has been a standout performer in the Vitality T20 Blast over the last three seasons, scoring more than 1,200 runs and striking at more than 200. He will miss Derbyshire’s County Championship fixture against Kent.
The matches will be played at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground in Chelmsford and the County Ground in Beckenham on Friday 11 September and Sunday 13 September respectively.
The extended squad allows England players to prepare for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, which begins with the first Vitality IT20 at the Utilita Bowl on Tuesday 15 September, while also giving opportunity to the next wave of talent in the county game around their Rothesay County Championship commitments.
Jonathan Trott is Head Coach for the series with a coaching staff of Troy Cooley, Graeme Swann, Ravi Bopara and Carl Hopkinson.
