Falcons Men captain, Nye Donald, will head to Australia for his Men’s Big Bash bow this winter, as he joins up with Perth Scorchers for the 2026-27 tournament.
Donald, who has established himself as one of the world’s most explosive T20 batters in the world over the last three seasons, will represent the reigning champions, who have won the competition a record six times.
The England opener will enjoy a busy winter of limited overs cricket, having already been selected for England’s IT20 tour of Australia and the Abu Dhabi T10 on the back of yet another impressive showing for the Falcons in the T20 Blast.
Due to his Big Bash commitments, Donald will now be unavailable for Desert Vipers in the ILT20, which is due to take place at the same time as his stint with the Scorchers.
The Falons skipper has struck the most sixes in each of the last two seasons and maintained a strike rate of more than 200 while scoring more than 900 runs, earning him a maiden senior international call-up last month, which resulted in three IT20 appearances.
The Men’s Big Bash competition begins on Saturday 12 December, with the final taking place on Tuesday 26 January 2027.
The Derbyshire connection does not stop with Donald, as Women & Girls Pathway alumni Sarah Glenn and Danni Wyatt Hodge have been selected for the Women’s Big Bash, representing Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes respectively.
